
The Regional Ensemble “Grojcowianie” from Wieprz, Radziechowy - Wieprz municipality , Żywiec District, was established in 1995 as a children’s group “Mali Grojcowianie”. Over the years, the group has expanded to include youth and adults, now forming a multi-generational group.
The main message of the group’s activities is to promote the Beskid Żywiec region in song, music, dance , dialect, dress, customs and rituals. The group’s program consists of traditional dances such as obyrtka, koło (circle), horse, siustany, bon or popis hajduk, as well as holne singing (mountain hall singing) or cheerful humorous chants of women. The musical lineup of the band includes prima fiddle, second , bass and shepherd’s instruments: pipes, ocarinas and the oldest instrument - the Żywiec bagpipes.
During the 30 years of its activity, “Grojcowianie” has taken part in competitions and festivals winning many prizes and awards , also giving concerts throughout Poland presenting the folklore of the Żywiec Highlanders during various local cultural events.
The band has also given concerts outside of our country, visiting such countries as: Lithuania, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, France, Portugal or Turkey.
The Artistic and Organizational Manager of the Ensemble is Jadwiga Jurasz.
Care of the group is provided by the Social and Cultural Association “Grojcowianie” in Wieprz and the Municipal Center for Culture, Promotion, Tourism Radziechowy – Wieprz.
