Founded in 1990, the traditional dance group "Zorile" from the Cluj commune of Mociu preserves the original elements of the musical and choreographic repertoire of the Transylvanian Plain unaltered. The elderly pass on to the younger generation the beauty and richness of the traditional culture of the area.
They are accompanied by the instrumental group "Zorile", led by Mayor Ţuli Carol - "Stângaciu", a group holding the title of "Living Human Treasure", which preserves the melodies learned from generation to generation.
Over time, they have won numerous awards at national competitions, precisely because they preserve the original elements of the local instrumental musical repertoire.
The Program
Weaving the wreath – At the end of the harvest, women would weave or wreath from ears of wheat, rye or barley, decorate with flowers, ribbons and sometimes fruit.
Wearing the wreath – The most industrious or youngest girl in the village would wear the wreath, accompanied by the procession of reapers who sang and danced.
Handing over the wreath – The wreath was offered to the farmer, landowner or boyar, as a sign of gratitude for the work done and for the fruit of the field.
Final party – After the wreath was handed over, feasts and dances were organized, and people enjoyed the gathered harvest.
