‘WOMEN OF PODHALE’ ON TVP KOBIETA

On September 4, the TVP Kobieta viewers will see the first episode of the series devoted to exceptional women living in one of the most colorful and expressive regions of Poland - the Podhale.

The series is dedicated to culture and travel. The show begins with a trip around Zakopane - the capital of the region. It is here that the journalist Anna Kostrzewska, known to our viewers from the ‘Woman in Culture’ series, discovers a new face of the famous region by visiting the homes and studios of talented Polish Tatra women.

In the first episode, Bogusia Dańko, an embroiderer, will take the viewers to the very sources of highland tradition. The viewers will have a chance to learn to distinguish the original highlanders' craftsmanship from many commercial products available in the region today.

The second episode of the series is the analysis of the well-known Zakopane style. The details of the style are brought closer by the architect and an interior decorator Agnieszka Burzykowska and her family.

Hanka Rybka - a representative and an advocate of the Podhale folklore, who for decades has been sharing her love of the traditions of Podhale together with the greatest Polish artists such as Marek Grechuta, BratHanki and Skaldowie, will introduce the audience to the music of the mountains. She is hoping to surprise many of her fans with her passion for jazz music as well as her young daughter's talent.

Among the protagonists of the series we will also see a breathing coach, graphic artist and painter Magdalena Gądek – a person known to many as the granddaughter of the famous world champion and olympian, and a war-time Tatra courier Stanisław Marusarz. Together we will visit the room of the famous jumper to uncover many unusual secrets.

The new series will reveal the beauty of Zakopane and exceptional women who hold on to their passions and pursue them in the region of Podhale. The viewers will have a chance to find out what truly makes Zakopane a unique place on the map of Poland. With each episode, the viewers will find out what made it possible to develop crafts, music and painting and how they became so famous. We will learn about the highlanders - what are their values, what happiness is for them and how they manage to implement or even improve the traditions passed down to the next generations today. Each episode is a true journey through history!
