The city of Zakopane and the Zakopane Cultural Centre for one of the most important folklore events in Poland: the 53rd International Festival of Highland Folklore in Zakopane, which will be held on August 19-26, 2022. on Lower Równia Krupowa.
Today, the competition for gold, silver and bronze ciupaga (axe) in Zakopane is a prestigious and recognized folklore event, not only in Poland, but also abroad. Over the past 50 years, nearly 600 foreign groups from several dozen countries and over 200 Polish groups have participated in it.
Groups participating in the festival present traditional, authentic folklore and forgotten rituals.
During this year's edition, groups from: India, Mexico, Romania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Macedonia, Slovakia, Greece, the Czech Republic and Poland will present their culture.
It is a one-of-a-kind event, and at the same time an attractive proposition in the city's tourist offer, which attracts crowds of fans from all over Poland. Tourists come to under Giewont to experience a folklore adventure with highlanders from all over the world.
We will start this year's edition of the festival with a concert entitled "In the land of Baron Gypsy" Crazy violin and world music that is Roby Lakatos (violin), Anna Wandtke (violin), Julius Csik (cymbals), Kalman Cseki (piano), Paweł Zagańczyk (accordion), Sebastian Wypych (double bass, conductor) with with the Beethoven Orchestra.
The band Hajda Banda will also perform on the festival stage. In May 2022, the group won 3rd place, the Audience Award and the Philharmonic Award at the Mieczysław Karłowicz in Szczecin during the 24th Polish Radio Folk Festival "Nowa Tradycja." (New Tradition)
The real icing on the cake will be the concert of the band Trebunie - Tutki with Quintet Urmuli (Georgia) presenting their joint album "Duch Gór" / "The Spirit of the Mountains".
