The “Mali Białcanie” Folk Ensemble
21 August 2026 – International Festival of Mountain Folklore, Zakopane – “Mali Górale” Concert

The “Mali Białcanie” (Little Białka Highlanders) Folk Ensemble was founded in 1984 by Stanisław Zagata and Józef Nowobilski “Pipiś.” The children’s ensemble is dedicated to preserving the traditions of Podhale, passed down from generation to generation, while showcasing the beauty of its region through traditional singing, dancing, customs, and games.

The ensemble’s performances are inspired by the joyful games and activities that once accompanied children’s everyday lives, as well as annual and family celebrations. These lively scenes are interwoven with authentic Highland songs and dances, creating performances that faithfully reflect the cultural heritage of Podhale.

“Mali Białcanie” is a six-time laureate of the prestigious Golden Kierpce Festival, winning the top award in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2022, and 2024. Every year, the ensemble also participates in numerous competitions in traditional singing, recitation, and storytelling, as well as in folklore festivals throughout Poland and abroad, proudly promoting the traditions of the Polish Highlands on the international stage.
